Bike Skills 201: Basic Skills for the Road

November 23, 2024 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

A Smart Cycling On Bike class.

Bike Skills 201 is an on-bike class for adults and mature teens who have recently learned how to ride a bike or who want to improve their core cycling skills. Participants will learn to perform a simple mechanical inspection to ensure the bike is road-ready, start and stop with confidence, shift gears, scan and signal, and navigate around common road hazards.

What to bring: A water bottle to stay hydrated. We provide a free helmet if you tell us you do not have one in your online class registration. A bicycle for you to use. The bike should be in good working order, which means the tires are inflated enough to feel hard, the pedals and chain move smoothly, and the brakes slow the bike down to a stop. Contact us if you have questions about your bike (classes@ncat-ct.org), or let us know in the registration that you need a bike to use (we will follow up to fit you to a bike we can lend to you).
